How to enter

We’re excited to see Doodles that share student’s unique visions of the future, where no dream is too big or small.

All Doodles must be entered using the entry form. Mail us the completed entry form or submit it online as a png or jpg file. The contest is open for entries until March 21, 2024 11:59 p.m. PST, so here's some information to help you get started:

1. Download or print the entry form.

2. Doodle

Artists create their Doodles using any materials they want. From crayons, clay, to found objects. This year, we’re welcoming more mediums of digital art, including virtual reality paintings, videos of stop-motion, songs, and poems.

Please note that to participate in audio or video submissions, students must be 13 years or older. These submissions should not include people other than the student entering the contest, and should be considerate of people’s privacy – for example, the submission should not include any content that could compromise the student’s privacy (including, for example, filming in private spaces in their home or indicating their home location).

3. Write

A. Artist’s statement - Tell us about what you created and how it represents your wish for the next 25 years.

B. Fill out the rest of the required information and have a parent or guardian sign the entry form.

4. Submit

A. Enter the contest online (recommended) or by mail (see step 3 on the entry form for details).

B. Entry form Doodles: If the Doodle is created directly on our entry form, you can either upload it to our site as a jpg or png) or mail it in. Visit the Submit your Doodle page for more info.

C. Other Doodles: If the Doodle wasn't created directly on our entry form, take a high-res digital photo or scan of the Doodle in good lighting and combine it with the entry form.

D. If your submission includes a video or digital file: Make sure to 1) Upload the file to Google Drive 2) Share the file with the following email: d4g2024judges@google.com 3) Add a thumbnail of the video to your submission form 4) Write the Google Drive link on your submission form, following your artist statement.

Judging criteria

Doodles will be judged on the following parameters:

1. Artistic merit

Based on artistic skill

2. Creativity

Representation of the contest theme, use of the letters in the Google logo, and the unique approach to the Doodle.

3. Theme communication

How well the contest theme is expressed in both the artwork and the written statement.

Doodles will be grouped and judged on a state-by-state basis and be eligible for the following awards:

National Winner

One student will be crowned the national winner.

State and Territory Winners

Fifty-five students across the 50 U.S. states, Puerto Rico, U.S. territories and freely associated states, The District of Columbia, and U.S. military bases will be named state and territory winners.

National Finalists

Students from the state and territory winners will be selected as national finalists and will earn the following awards that align with Google values:

• Planet Award
• Good Neighbor Award
• Imagination Award
• Biggest Smile Award
• Tech Whiz Award

Competition levels

55 State and Territory Winners

The guest Judges will select the best Doodle from each of the 50 U.S. states, Puerto Rico, U.S. territories and freely associated states, The District of Columbia, and U.S. military bases as the State and Territory winners. These 55 State and Territory winners will be displayed in an online gallery on the Doodle for Google website.

Five National Finalists

From the top 55, five students will each be granted awards for creating Doodles that align with Google values, as seen above.

One National Winner

For a period of two weeks, the 50 U.S. states, Puerto Rico, U.S. territories and freely associated states, The District of Columbia, and U.S. military bases will vote for their favorite Doodle from the 55 State and Territory Winners. These votes will help determine the National Winner. Google will announce the National Winner in June.

Disqualifications

Doodles that are not original works, contain logos, or copyrighted imagery will be disqualified. Only one application per student. Only the first Doodle entered for each student will be considered, and any additional Doodles will be disqualified. Please read through contest rules for more information.
